A man identified as Joseph Matheka was fatally stabbed several times during a fight at a bar in the Ngando area, Dagoretti Sub-County, Nairobi, at about 2 am on Tuesday.
According to police, Matheka had been involved in a fight with another man, who was also injured during the confrontation.
The other man sustained a head injury and was bleeding heavily.
Both men were taken to separate nearby health facilities. Matheka was taken to St Joseph Catholic Hospital, while the other man was taken to Rafa Hospital in Ngando.
Matheka was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Matheka’s body, which had visible physical injuries, was moved to the City Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fight and the fatal stabbing.
Nairobi police commander Issa Mohamud said the other man would be questioned as investigations continue and could face prosecution depending on the findings.
Elsewhere, a 36-year-old man died following an altercation with another man in Taragai, Ntimaru, Migori County.
The deceased, identified as Samwel Chacha Sarara, was reportedly involved in an argument with the other man before the confrontation turned violent, with the man said to have armed himself with a panga.
Police said Sarara sustained several cuts to the head during the incident, resulting in serious injuries.
He was rushed to Ntimaru Sub-County Hospital, where he received first aid before being referred to Migori County Hospital.
However, services at the referral facility were reportedly disrupted. Sarara was subsequently taken to Life Care Hospital in Migori, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The officers later visited Wima Mortuary, where Sarara’s body had been moved. Police said the body had a visible deep injury on the forehead.
The body remains at Wima Mortuary pending postmortem as investigations into the incident continue.
In another incident, a 30-year-old electronic vendor died after reportedly being attacked and robbed by three unidentified men in Mabera Township, Migori County.
The deceased, identified as Marthin Muriaga Mwita, was attacked on August 5, 2026, while travelling home from his workplace.
Police said Mwita left his workplace at about 9pm and was attacked at Kubweye by three unidentified men who were reportedly armed with crude weapons.
Police said the men took a laptop, a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.
A Good Samaritan rescued the injured man and took him to Samjomen Hospital in Mabera, where he was initially treated before being referred to Kisii KTRN Hospital for further treatment.
However, Mwita died from his injuries on August 13.
The body was moved to Akidiva Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the identities of the three men and determine their possible involvement in the incident.
