Kenya requires about 25,000 tonnes of maize to bridge the deficit caused by reduced harvests in major maize-growing areas. Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe says changing weather patterns have contributed to the low maize production. Kagwe assures Kenyans that the government is importing the deficit to ensure adequate maize supplies and prevent food shortages.
