A helicopter crashed near Mt Ololokwe in Samburu County on Wednesday morning, 19 August 2026. Several people are feared dead following the incident in the Kirish area. Emergency teams have launched an urgent rescue response to reach the site.
The aircraft went down in a section of the mountain that is very difficult to access. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing smoke and fire rising from the wreckage. Local residents and rescue teams began moving towards the location shortly after the impact.

Preliminary reports from the police indicate that seven people were on the helicopter. These included six tourists and one pilot. Other reports suggest all seven people on board were tourists.
