A section of village elders from the Luo Nyanza region has welcomed the government’s plan to provide them with a monthly stipend, describing it as recognition of their role in grassroots administration. The elders have urged the government to consider increasing the payments in future. They also called for uniforms and motorcycles to facilitate their movement within their areas of jurisdiction.
