Kenyan businessman, pilot  and car enthusiast Khalif Kairo has explained why he wears his wristwatch on his right hand, after a curious follower questioned the unusual choice.

The conversation started when Vic Muga asked Kairo about his watch preference on X, wondering why he wore it on the right side.
“Why do you wear your wristwatch on the right-hand side, just asking,” Vic wrote.
Kairo responded with a simple but unexpected explanation, revealing that the choice is linked to an injury he suffered a year ago.

Titanium Plate Changed His Watch-Wearing Habit

“Fractured my right hand one year ago and they fitted a titanium plate in it so a watch feels slightly off,” Kairo explained on his reply to Vic.
His response suggests that wearing a watch on the opposite side is largely a matter of comfort following the injury and treatment.
A titanium plate was fitted to his hand after the fracture, making the usual position for wearing a watch feel uncomfortable. As a result, Kairo appears to have adapted his routine and now prefers wearing the accessory on his right side.

A Simple Question With A Personal Answer

What began as a straightforward question about Kairo’s fashion or personal style quickly revealed a little-known detail about his past.
For many people, wearing a wristwatch becomes an everyday habit, with most choosing whichever hand feels natural or comfortable. However, injuries and medical procedures can sometimes force people to adjust even the smallest aspects of their daily routines.
Kairo’s explanation also shows that his decision is not necessarily about making a fashion statement. Instead, comfort appears to be the main reason behind his choice.
The exchange has given his followers another glimpse into the personal side of the businessman, with what seemed like a simple question ultimately revealing that his watch preference is connected to an injury he suffered a year ago.
