Konami has rolled out a major new season update for eFootball 2027, introducing tactical changes, new gameplay mechanics, managers and players.
The update, which began on 13 August 2026, gives players more control over how their teams attack and defend while adding new ways to compete.
Fluid Formations Change Team Tactics
One of the biggest additions is Fluid Formations.

Players can now set different formations for attacking and defending. The team can automatically change shape during a match depending on whether it has possession.
This means a side could defend with a back four before adopting a more attacking structure when it wins the ball.
Overload Introduces a New Playing Style
The system moves players towards the side of the pitch where the ball is, creating closer passing options and numerical advantages.
It is designed to support short passing combinations while encouraging an aggressive press after possession is lost.
“Overload” is built around creating numerical superiority around the ball.
Frank Lampard is among the managers associated with the new system. His addition gives players another option when building a squad around Overload.
Managers Get Two Link-Ups
The new season also expands the manager system with coaches capable of having two Link-Up Plays.
Antonio Conte is among the headline additions, with “Touchdown Pass C” and “One-Two Cut-In B” available as his Link-Ups.
The change gives Dream Team players more ways to connect their managers with the tactical qualities of their squads.
New Gameplay and Animations
Konami has introduced Dynamic Volley, giving players more control over first-time attempts from aerial balls.
The update also includes new animations covering movement, dribbling, passing, shooting, trapping and goalkeeping.
These changes are intended to make matches feel more responsive and varied.
Custom Tournaments and Daily Challenges
Custom Tournament is another major addition. Players can organise competitions for up to eight participants, with formats including league and knockout tournaments.
The update also introduces Daily Super Play, replacing the previous Daily Game with new mini-game challenges.
New Players Join the Game
The new season brings several notable player additions and special cards.
Sergio Agüero arrives as a new Legend, while Wayne Rooney returns with new abilities. Diego Costa, Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard are also part of the new player content.
Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal also feature in new editions connected to the season campaign.
Konami’s eFootball series had already passed 950 million cumulative downloads by January 2026, underlining the size of its global player base.
With new formations, tactical systems, managers, gameplay mechanics and tournament options, the latest season puts greater emphasis on how players set up and control their teams rather than simply which footballers they select.
