The funeral committee organising the send-off of late Ohangla musician Tony Ndiema has released a financial breakdown showing how KSh3.93 million raised for his burial was spent.
The statement was shared on Facebook on Tuesday, August 11, by committee member Kokomoh Victor Piny Yore on behalf of the organising committee and the family of Anton Okoth Ochieng, popularly known as Tony Ndiema.
According to the breakdown, the committee received KSh1,367,993 from artistes and fans, while politicians and other leaders contributed KSh2,095,500. A further KSh467,331 was collected through a Paybill account.
The total expenditure stood at KSh3,932,074, leaving a balance deficit of KSh1,250.

Other listed expenses included KSh150,000 for videography, KSh140,000 for sound systems and KSh134,000 for security.
Candle-lighting activities cost KSh107,964, while morgue and postmortem fees amounted to KSh51,000.

One of the figures that drew the strongest attention online was the KSh60,300 listed as money that went directly to Ndiema's family.
The breakdown has since prompted questions from some Kenyans about how the funeral fundraising money was allocated, particularly given the discrepancy between the overall amount raised and the money handed directly to the family.

Tony Ndiema died on June 30, 2026, while receiving treatment at Oasis Hospital in Kisii after a short illness.
His family had earlier appealed for financial assistance after his condition deteriorated and he reportedly lost the ability to walk and speak.

The burial was held on August 5 at the family's ancestral home in Omoche Village, Gem Asumbi, Rangwe Constituency, Homa Bay County.
