Kenyan gospel musician Linet Munyali, popularly known as Size 8, has responded after some social media users questioned the age she shared while celebrating her birthday.

The singer marked her birthday on 5 August, announcing that she had turned 39 years old. However, while many fans flooded her social media pages with congratulatory messages, others expressed doubt over her stated age, prompting a discussion in the comments section.
Rather than ignoring the speculation, Size 8 addressed it through a lengthy pinned comment, explaining her position and using the opportunity to share a message about faith and resilience.
"I am 39 years old, born in 1987, but many are commenting it is a lie," she wrote, expressing that the situation, while unfortunate, had presented a teaching moment for her Christian audience.

Singer draws inspiration from the Bible.

In her response, Size 8 compared the online criticism to the biblical story of David and Goliath, saying people often focus on outward appearances instead of God's purpose.

She encouraged her followers not to allow negative comments to discourage them from pursuing their goals or embracing who they are.
The gospel singer noted that challenges and criticism are part of life, but faith gives believers the strength to overcome them.
"The naysayers will be busy telling you like they told David, 'who do you think you are? You can never kill Goliath' — be sure of your God given assignment, focus, dont wait for peoples validation and move forward," she wrote.
She closed her message with a show of grace towards those who doubted her, writing that she loved them all and understood that people could make mistakes.
" May God prosper you all," she added.

A career marked by transformation

Size 8 first gained fame in Kenya's secular music industry with hits including Shamba Boy and Silali. In 2013, she announced that she had become a born-again Christian and later transitioned fully into gospel music.
