KMPDU has proposed a referendum to reform the management of health workers in Kenya. Deputy Secretary General Dennis Misskela says recruitment should be handled by a Health Service Commission instead of counties, arguing that the current system has created inconsistencies across the 47 counties. He adds that another option is to partially devolve the health sector, with counties managing Level 1, 2 and 3 hospitals, while the national government takes charge of Level 4, 5 and 6 hospitals.
