Kenya is one of Africa's most targeted cybercrime hotspots, recording over 46,000 distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks in early 2025. An INTERPOL African Cyberthreat 2026 Assessment Report reveals that financial losses have doubled to approximately Sh. 62.6 billion, driven by mobile money fraud and artificial intelligence. According to the report, 55 percent of cybercrimes are AI-enabled, heavily impacting financial services, telecoms and government institutions.
