Chief Justice Martha Koome has declared that sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and defilement cases are serious crimes excluded from the Alternative Justice System. Speaking during the launch of AJS plan in Kisii County, Koome stressed that such offenses violate human dignity and international law, requiring strict handling through formal court processes rather than community mediation or family settlements.
