Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has condemned the arrest of Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia following remarks he made during a DCP rally in Nyeri. Babu said that differing political opinions should never be grounds for arrest in a constitutional democracy. He argued that freedom of expression protects not only popular speech but also speech that is unpopular, controversial, or critical. The legislator called for the full protection of every person’s right to speak freely without fear of intimidation, harassment, or arbitrary arrest.
