Public universities continue to face a funding shortfall of nearly Sh28 billion under the new university funding model. Appearing before the National Assembly's Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, CS Julius Ogamba said Sh5.2 billion allocated for TVET students has been disbursed to institutions, but the funding gap remains unresolved. The MPs criticised government spending priorities, questioning allocations to political activities as universities struggle with inadequate funding.
