Lawyers representing Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia claim they were denied access to their client after his arrest and detention at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road. High Court Advocate Ndegwa Njiru said he and fellow lawyer Edward Muriu were blocked from seeing the legislator despite presenting themselves at the reception. The lawyers accused the government of promoting a 2030 economic blueprint while at the same time undermining democratic principles, and freedom of speech.
