Media personalityCiru Muriukihas clarified comments she recently made about being open to dating a younger man after receiving what she described as an overwhelming number of direct messages on social media.
In a video shared on her TikTok page, the 44-year-old broadcaster said many people had interpreted her earlier remarks as an open invitation to approach her romantically. She explained that this was not what she intended.
“When I said I would date younger, I didn’t mean I would date younger right now. Guys, please leave my DMs; I’m overwhelmed.”
Ciru went on to make it clear that she was not interested in messages from men below the age of 25.

“Please, if you are under the age of 25, please go. I’m just telling you nicely. What am I going to do with a 21-year-old? Where am I going to take you? I am just a 44-year-old woman with thoughts. That wasn’t an invitation.”
Comments followed a recent dating discussion.
Ciru’s latest video comes just days after she spoke openly about relationships during an interview, where she revealed that she would not rule out dating someone younger than herself.

At the time, she explained that maturity mattered more than age and that she was open to meeting someone who shared her values and outlook on life. She stressed that emotional intelligence, compatibility and respect were more important than a birth certificate.
She also noted that many women are often judged more harshly than men when they express interest in younger partners, saying society tends to treat age-gap relationships differently depending on gender. Those remarks sparked widespread discussion online and attracted numerous reactions from fans.
Ciru maintained that she was simply being honest about what she would consider in a future relationship rather than announcing that she was actively looking for a younger partner.
Setting the record straight
Her latest TikTok video appears to have been prompted by the response that followed those comments.
Rather than rejecting the idea of dating a younger man altogether, Ciru clarified that there are limits to what she considers realistic.
She suggested that men in their early twenties are simply too young for her and that her earlier remarks had been misunderstood. The broadcaster used humour throughout the video but was firm in asking younger admirers to stop flooding her inbox.
