Content creatorLydia Wanjiru has joined the online conversation surrounding dancer Diaso’s noticeable skin tone transformation, suggesting that some men may unknowingly use skin-lightening products that belong to their partners.
Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, Lydia said many women use skin-lightening products as part of their skincare routine but do not always inform their partners about the products they are using.
“Men don’t read the labels”
According to Lydia, there is nothing unusual about women choosing skincare products that help them feel more confident.

“Most of your girlfriends and wives use skin-lightening products. It’s not a secret—they know themselves. It’s not even a bad thing. Anything to make yourself look good and boost your confidence,” she said.
She explained that the issue arises when men use their partners’ toiletries without checking what they contain.
“Men don’t know how to read these products. You get into your girlfriend’s bathroom and start showering without reading the label to see that the shower gel is for skin lightening.”
Lydia added that after using a partner’s shower products, some men also apply body lotions or creams found in the bedroom, unaware that they may contain ingredients designed to lighten the skin.
Diaso speculation
Referring to the ongoing online discussions about Diaso’s changing complexion, Lydia said it was possible that he may not even realise why his skin tone appears different.
“This story about Diaso bleaching—what I’ve said could actually be the truth, and he himself doesn’t know. Maybe he just thinks they are ordinary products he’s using.”
She, however, clarified that this was only her opinion and invited others to correct her if she was mistaken.
Lydia further claimed that some women avoid telling their partners about such products because skin lightening still attracts criticism from sections of the public.
Call for honesty between couples.
The content creator encouraged women to openly discuss their skincare products with their partners to avoid misunderstandings.
“Ladies, honestly tell your men about these products. Your man could start trending online, yet he doesn’t even know what’s happening. This is not for what you think it is.”
