Content creator and entrepreneur Carey Priscillahas responded to allegations circulating online that employees at one of her businesses are required to attend Friday devotions and prayers or risk missing their lunch break.

The claims surfaced after an anonymous post was shared on the popular Nairobi Gossip social media platform, with the employee alleging that attendance at the weekly devotion was compulsory and that those who failed to participate would not receive lunch.

In response, Carey addressed the matter in a video posted on her Instagram page, where she defended the practice and insisted that faith has always been at the centre of the businesses she has built.

‘People don’t like prayers, they like food’

Reacting to the allegations,Carey said she was surprised to wake up and find the claims trending online.
“I woke up this morning to find out my employees have exposed me on Nairobi Gossip, all because Friday devotion is mandatory and if you don’t attend, there is no lunch.”
She then jokingly questioned the priorities of those criticising the arrangement.
“So people out there don’t like prayers? They like food?”
Despite the online criticism, Carey maintained that the practice would not change.

Faith is non-negotiable

According to the entrepreneur, every member of staff is aware of the company’s values before accepting employment.
She explained that prayer is a core part of her businesses because they were founded on faith.
“Anyway, for me that’s non-negotiable because every business I have founded is a product of faith, and I am very loud about it.”
Carey added that employees know what the businesses stand for before they join the team, suggesting that the weekly devotions should not come as a surprise.

‘Unhide the ID’

The content creator also made a light-hearted appeal to Nairobi Gossip, asking the page to reveal the identity of the anonymous employee behind the allegations.
“Nairobi Gossip, you can unhide the ID so that I can be able to pray for this employee.”
She accompanied the video with a humorous Instagram caption that read:
“Can you just unhide the ID? I promise I just want to pray for them… then we’ll have a small conversation.” 🤣🙏🏾
