The East African Monetary Committee has reaffirmed its push toward a single currency by 2031, targeting stronger macroeconomic convergence. Through a statement, officials noted solid regional growth projected at 5.2% for 2026 alongside easing inflation at 6.7%. The bloc also advanced its Cross-Border Payment System Masterplan to boost trade, enhance financial inclusion and deepen regional integration across Partner States.
