Gospel singer Guardian Angel has opened up about the impact his marriage to Esther Musila had on his ministry, revealing that he faced criticism from some Christians and later experienced a significant decline in church invitations.
Speaking in a recent video, the award-winning musician said life changed dramatically after he married Musila, whose relationship with him attracted widespread public attention because of their age difference.
Says criticism came from fellow Christians
Guardian Angelsaid he was surprised that much of the criticism came from within the Christian community, despite having dedicated much of his career to ministering in churches.

"I married a woman who is older than me. Christians insulted me, criticised me and eventually abandoned me."
He added that during that difficult period, he received more support from people outside the church than from those within it.
"I found love outside the church instead of inside it. They are the ones who embraced me."
Church bookings reduced after wedding.
The singer also claimed his ministry calendar changed immediately after he got married.
According to Guardian Angel, he previously had church events almost every day of the week and rarely lacked invitations to perform.
"Before that I was very busy. From Monday to Monday I was performing at church events.
Then I got married, and the phone calls stopped. Those busy meetings disappeared. I'm no longer busy. They replaced me."
While he did not mention any specific churches or organisers, he suggested that the reduction in invitations came after news of his marriage became public.
A relationship that has remained in the spotlight
Guardian Angel and Esther Musila have continued to attract public attention since revealing their relationship in 2020. The couple tied the knot in a private wedding on 4 January 2022, and have repeatedly said they chose to focus on their relationship despite criticism over their age difference.
Earlier this year, as they marked five years together, Guardian Angel described 2025 as the beginning of a "new season of love, good health and power." Musila also paid tribute to her husband, thanking him for redefining companionship and for being a constant source of joy and strength in their marriage.
