Experts are urging countries to work together to protect migratory birds, warning that conserving isolated habitats is no longer enough. BirdLife International says birds depend on a continuous chain of wetlands, feeding grounds and resting sites across several countries, meaning the loss of just one key habitat can threaten entire migration routes. The organisation will unveil new scientific findings on global bird populations during the Global Flyways Summit in Nairobi this September.
