Governor Johnson Sakaja today told the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations that the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit System (NMRTS) will deliver Nairobi’s first underground metro and ease chronic traffic congestion. He said Phase I has been approved by the County Executive Committee, feasibility studies are complete, and implementation is being fast-tracked with the National Government. The integrated network will combine metro, commuter rail, Bus Rapid Transit and non-motorised transport, boosting mobility, jobs and investment.
