Chief Justice Martha Koome has suspended Kangema Senior Principal Magistrate Martin Kinyau Mutegi over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe in connection with a case before the court. Koome said investigations by relevant agencies were ongoing, with administrative and disciplinary proceedings to follow under the Judicial Service Commission Act. She reaffirmed the Judiciary’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption and urged judicial officers to uphold integrity. Mutegi was arrested alongside a probation officer.
