British prosecutors want them returned to the UK to face a fresh series of criminal charges linked to alleged offences said to have taken place between 2010 and 2017.

His brother, Tristan Tate, has been charged with two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
“The new charges involve multiple alleged victims and form part of an expanded prosecution by UK authorities.”
The latest case adds to existing legal proceedings that have followed the brothers for several years.

Legal cases in three countries

The Tate brothersare also facing legal proceedings in Romania, where they were first detained in December 2022. Romanian prosecutors accused them of human trafficking and forming an organised criminal group allegedly involved in sexually exploiting women using what investigators described as the “loverboy method”.
In August 2024, Romanian authorities expanded the investigation to include allegations involving trafficking minors and sex with a minor. The brothers deny those allegations. They were later released from house arrest under travel restrictions while the case continued through the courts.
Meanwhile, authorities in Florida opened a separate criminal investigation in March 2026 after the brothers arrived in the state. The investigation is examining allegations including conspiracy to coerce a woman into sex work and other possible offences.

Brothers deny all allegations.

Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold dual British and American citizenship, have consistently denied all accusations against them.
Their legal representatives have maintained that the allegations are politically motivated and have said the brothers intend to challenge every case brought against them through the courts.
“The brothers have repeatedly denied wrongdoing and say they will vigorously contest the charges.”
British authorities have stated that the brothers will be extradited to the UK after legal proceedings in Romania are concluded, subject to court decisions in the relevant jurisdictions.
