Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Akothee has dismissed claims that she is already in menopause, telling one of her sons that she could still have another child because she is currently in perimenopause.

The mother of five shared the light-hearted conversation on her Instagram page, where she jokingly challenged assumptions that she was no longer capable of giving birth.
In the video, Akothee reassured her son that she still had a chance of expanding her family.
“I still have a journey. I can give birth. I’m not in menopause yet, so don’t lose hope.”
Her son admitted that he had assumed she was already in menopause.
“Yeah.”
Akothee responded with a smile before asking him whether he would prefer a baby brother or a baby sister.
“I’m still young. You want a baby brother or baby sister?”
Her son replied that he would be happy with either.

The singer accompanied the video with a humorous caption directed at social media users who had mocked her over her age and claimed she could no longer have another child.
“Mind your insults ona sasa mumehurtbreak Oyoo ati niko menopause siwezi mzalia Last born. Nyinyi ni wabaya.”
The post quickly attracted reactions from fans, with many joining in the joke while others wishing her well.

Akothee has spoken openly about menopause before

Akothee’slatest remarks come months after she shared her thoughts on life after menopause, saying she viewed it as a new chapter rather than something to fear. At the time, she said the man who dated her after menopause would be “very lucky” because he would be with a woman who fully understands herself and has grown through life’s experiences. She also joked that her previous partners “deserve hardship allowances” because they met her while she was still finding herself.
