IEBC Electoral Code of Conduct Committee has directed Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria to pay a 2.5 million shilling fine within 48 hours for breaching the Electoral Code of Conduct. The committee chaired by Alutalala Mukhwana found Gikaria guilty of distributing cash at rallies and falsely informing voters that identification documents were unnecessary. The committee further directed Gikaria to issue a public apology. Gikaria now faces potential criminal prosecution following the referral of evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
