The planned construction of an oil refinery in Lamu will require a new generation of highly specialized welders, skills which are also needed in shipbuilding and other strategic industries. Speaking while visiting Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute in Nairobi, Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui stressed the need to equip Kenyan youth early through targeted training, ensuring they are ready to seize emerging technical opportunities instead of missing out due to skills gaps.
