The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has licensed an additional 25 Digital Credit Providers (DCPs), bringing the total number of regulated lenders to 252. This oversight aims to curb predatory practices, including high costs and data privacy abuses. Through a statement, CBK noted that since March 2022, it has reviewed over 800 applications to ensure consumer protection and regulatory adherence among digital lenders.
