Bars operating within 300 metres of schools in Meru County will be closed as the county government steps up enforcement of alcohol control regulations. Meru County Alcoholic Drinks Control Board CEO Gitonga Akubu says the directive is aimed at protecting learners and ensuring liquor outlets comply with the law. He has urged parents, education stakeholders and members of the public to report any establishments operating illegally so that action can be taken.
