Over 100,000 farmers will benefit from community irrigation schemes as it expands access to reliable water for farming. According to Irrigation PS Ephantus Kimotho, more than 8,000 farmers in the Mt Kenya region are already benefiting from smallholder irrigation projects that have improved food production and household incomes. Similar gains are being reported in Murang'a, Meru, Tana River and other counties where farmers have shifted from rain-fed agriculture to year-round farming.
