Religious leaders in Malindi have criticized the Summer Tides Festival, accusing organizers of promoting activities they say are contrary to the region's moral values. Led by Bishop Thomas Kakhala, the clerics cited indecent dressing, excessive alcohol consumption and reckless driving among some attendees. They have vowed to oppose the festival's return to the area.
