KRA says excise duty on bottled water has officially been abolished under the Finance Act, 2026, with effect from July 1st. The authority says bottled water produced or imported from that date will no longer be subject to excise duty or the mandatory excise stamps. Manufacturers and importers have also been advised to await detailed guidelines on the return of unused stamps and the decommissioning of digital stamps. KRA has reminded taxpayers to submit June excise duty returns and pay the outstanding taxes by July 20th.
