Pastor Victor Kanyari’s mother[ Prophetess Lucy Nduta] moved many attendees during a public event on Friday, 20 June at Gituambi Mwiki , as she reflected on the hardships she endured while raising her family before appealing to Kenyans to support her son’s political ambitions.

Speaking during the gathering, the woman encountered difficult moments from her past, describing a life marked by financial challenges, sacrifice and determination. She praised Kanyari for remaining supportive of his family despite the obstacles they faced while growing up.
Her remarks were captured in a video later shared on social media, where she spoke candidly about the family’s humble beginnings and how circumstances have changed over the years.

“We suffered a lot before reaching where we are today,” she said as attendees listened attentively.

From Humble Beginnings

Kanyari has on several occasions spoken publicly about his upbringing and the struggles his family faced before he became a well-known preacher.
According to past interviews, the televangelist was raised in modest circumstances and spent part of his childhood helping his family make ends meet. He has previously narrated how his mother worked hard to provide for her children despite limited resources.
The pastor has often credited his mother for shaping his character and encouraging him to remain focused during difficult periods of his life.
During Friday’s event, his mother highlighted those sacrifices, saying the family had experienced seasons when basic needs were difficult to meet.
“God has lifted us from far,” she told the crowd.

Praising Her Son

The emotional speech soon shifted to Kanyari himself, with his mother praising him for supporting her and other family members.

She described him as a caring son who had remained committed to improving the lives of those around him. Her comments were met with applause from sections of the audience.

The elderly woman then urged residents of Kasarani to consider supporting Kanyari should he contest the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
“Vote for Kanyari when the time comes,” she appealed.

Growing Public Profile

Kanyari rose to national prominence through his ministry work and television broadcasts. Over the years, he has remained a familiar figure in Kenya’s religious landscape, attracting both support and criticism.
Beyond preaching, he has increasingly participated in community activities and charitable initiatives. In recent months, he has openly expressed interest in elective politics, declaring his intention to vie for the Kasarani parliamentary seat in 2027.
