Kenyan music duo Wadagliz have opened up about the difficult moments they experienced while filming the video for their song Anguka Nayo, revealing that what audiences eventually saw came after several unexpected setbacks.
During an interview with Ras on Xtraordinary Podcast, the artistes reflected on the early production days, describing how limited resources required them to adapt quickly, setting the tone for the challenges that followed.
According to one of the musicians, the process started from a location that had little connection to a conventional music set.
From a carwash to an uncertain beginning

The artiste explained that at the time, he was working at a carwash, and that became one of the first places connected to the video journey.
“Video ilianzia kuna place nilikuwa nafanya kazi kwa carwash.”
The plan, however, quickly ran into problems.
As they began organising themselves and preparing to shoot, more people started gathering around the area. The growing attention soon interrupted what they had intended to do.
“Vile tulianza watu walijaa ati watchman akatutoa.”
The team was forced to leave and look for another place to continue.
Searching for another location
After leaving the first spot, they moved to an area around a basketball pitch in Umoja II. The musicians explained that they believed the location could work and hoped to continue with production there. But reaching the new venue brought another challenge.
According to the artiste, someone around the area wanted payment before allowing them to proceed.
“Tukienda uko jina ilikuwa inajulikana, uyo mtu wa apo alitaka 10,000.”
What made the situation more surprising, he said, was that they were not strangers in the area. “Tulikuwa watu wa area, na pia anatujua.”
At the time, raising such an amount was not easy.
Turning to friends for support
With time moving and the shoot still incomplete, they remained at the location while trying to find a way forward.
The artiste recalled staying there for about half an hour before deciding to reach out to people they knew
“Tulikaa hapo 30 minutes, nikapigia marafiki zangu nikawaambia niko na video leo na niko area yenu.”
Their friends responded and stood by them during the moment.
“Walisema hakuna pesa watampea.”
