“One year ago today, my dad took his final rest. It still feels unreal,” she wrote.
The actress revealed that the past year had been filled with significant moments, including personal achievements and family milestones.
However, she admitted that many of those occasions were accompanied by the painful realisation that she could no longer share them with her father.
“So much has happened in our lives this past year – big wins, beautiful milestones, moments that would have had me reaching for my phone to call him first. And every single time, I remember I can’t.”
Learning to Live With Loss
Matubia’s message centred on the enduring nature of grief, noting that while time may pass, the pain of losing a loved one never completely disappears.
“The pain of missing you never really leaves; we simply learn to carry it.”
Her words resonated with many followers who have experienced similar losses, as she reflected on the emotional journey of adjusting to life without a parent.
Despite the sadness, the actress expressed comfort in the belief that her father continues to watch over the family.

“But in my heart, I know you can see us. I know you’re watching over us, smiling at how far we’ve come, cheering us on from heaven.”
Remembering a Father’s Legacy
The tribute also highlighted the impact her father had on her life and the values he left behind. Matubia thanked him for his love, guidance, and the foundation he provided for the family.
“We miss your voice, your laughter, your wisdom, and your presence every single day.”
She concluded the message with a touching farewell, affirming that his memory remains deeply cherished.
“Thank you for the love you gave us and the foundation you left behind. Until we meet again, Dad.”
“Forever loved. Forever missed.”
