Author and media  personality Lilian Ng'ang'a has revealed that she has only been in relationships with two men since the age of 25, saying the decision has helped her avoid unnecessary complications in life.

Speaking during a recent interview with Dr. Ofweneke for his YouTube podcast, the former Machakos First Lady reflected on her romantic journey and the public scrutiny that has often accompanied it.

Ng'ang'a, who was previously in a long-term relationship with Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and is now married to musician Juliani, said she remains comfortable with the choices she has made.
“What are you all talking about? I have been with two men from 25 to 40, I have been with two men,” she said.
Nganga noted that despite frequent public discussion about her personal life, no one could question her record when it comes to relationships.

“For so long Alfred was so long, and then J. Nobody can come and say, ‘I was with Lillian sijui wapi.’ Probably that is how I look at life, and it has saved me from a lot of troubles and situations,” she added.

A life lived in the public eye

Ng'ang'a met Mutua when she was 25, and the two spent roughly a decade together. During that period, she served as Machakos County's First Lady.

The relationship ended in 2021 after she publicly announced their separation. She later began a relationship with rapper Juliani, whom she married in 2022. The couple has a son together.

The author has increasingly spoken about controlling her own narrative, saying she wants people to understand her beyond public assumptions.

In previous remarks, she explained that she had always been in committed relationships and had rarely spent time single. She has also described intelligence as one of the qualities she finds most attractive in a partner.

Responding to critics

After her comments gained attention online, some social media users questioned her claim. Ng'ang'a responded firmly, maintaining that she was simply stating facts about her life.

“How can the FACT that I've been with only two men since I was 25 make me all the nonsensical things you call me?” she wrote on social media.
