Mugithi singer Samidoh, born Samuel Muchoki, has opened up about the emotional toll his highly publicised relationship controversies had on his life, admitting that the intense online scrutiny once left him overwhelmed and unsure how to cope.

Speaking during an interview on Obinna Show Live hosted by media personality Oga Obinna, the singer reflected on the difficult period when his personal life involving his wife Edday Nderitu and former partner, nominated senator Karen Nyamu, constantly dominated headlines and social media conversations.

Samidoh Opens Up on Pressure of Fame

During the interview, Obinna asked the musician whether there had ever been a point where he wished for a more private or normal life away from fame.

In response, Samidoh admitted that although he knew fame would come with challenges, he was not prepared for the magnitude of attention his relationship drama attracted online.

“I remember there was a time when there was a lot of pressure from social media. You could trend, and my phone would receive so many notifications that it would temporarily hang,” he said.

The singer recalled one particularly overwhelming moment when he woke up and discovered he had become front-page material across multiple newspapers.

“There was a day I woke up and found myself in three newspapers. Honestly, I did not know how to handle that. It was the first time, and I did not know whether to get up or just go back to sleep,” he added.

According to Samidoh, the experience forced him to adapt mentally and emotionally. He said spiritual guidance and personal resilience eventually helped him navigate the storm.

“I adapted because there is no hill that I find too high to climb,” he said.

Relationship Drama Became National Conversation

Samidoh’s love life became one of the country’s most talked-about celebrity stories after his relationship with Karen Nyamu became public.

At one point, many fans speculated that the singer’s family situation could evolve into a polygamous arrangement.

However, matters later escalated after Edday publicly stated she would not raise her children in a polygamous marriage.

The mother of three later relocated to the United States with their children, sparking widespread reactions online.

Meanwhile, Samidoh and Nyamu’s relationship continued to attract attention through public statements, performances, and social media exchanges before the pair eventually separated after years of an on-and-off relationship.

In September 2025, Nyamu publicly stated that she was the one who ended the relationship, dismissing claims that she had been dumped.

“Me nakaa mtu alikataliwa? Am I the one singing Karen Nyamu’s name in all mugithis every weekend?” she said at the time.

Reconciliation with Edday

In the past one year however, Samidoh and Edday have increasingly appeared together publicly, suggesting the couple have been rebuilding their relationship.

A recent viral clip from their daughter’s birthday celebration showed the pair sharing playful moments together after the singer reunited with his family.

In the video, Samidoh jokingly teased Edday while feeding her pizza, repeatedly pulling the slice away as she tried to take a bite, leaving both of them laughing.
