Kenya is positioning itself as East Africa’s premier hub for construction, renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure and manufacturing innovation following the launch of the Kenya Buildcon International Expo 2026, Kenya Wood 2026 and Kenya Solar, Electric, Power and Lighting (SEPL) Expo 2026.
The three co-located exhibitions were officially launched in Nairobi on Tuesday, with organisers saying the event will bring together more than 125 exhibitors from over six countries and hundreds of industry stakeholders seeking investment, partnerships and new technologies.
The exhibition, which will be held at the Sarit Expo Centre from June 11 to 13, is expected to attract players from the construction, building materials, woodworking, renewable energy, electrical systems and green building sectors.
Speaking during the official launch, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) National Director Ken Onditi said the expo aligns with Kenya’s vision of promoting sustainable economic growth through trade, innovation and strategic partnerships.
“It aligns with our vision of fostering sustainable economic growth through trade, innovation and strategic partnerships. The construction, energy and manufacturing sectors are key drivers of Kenya’s transformation and are central to the realisation of the country's development agenda,” Onditi said.
He noted that the exhibition's unique strength lies in bringing together three complementary industries under one platform.
“This year's theme is unique because it brings together building materials, electrical and solar power solutions, lighting, wood and wood products under one roof. By integrating these sectors, the exhibition provides a comprehensive marketplace for businesses, investors, manufacturers, suppliers, developers and consumers to interact, explore opportunities and showcase innovations shaping the future,” he said.
Onditi said the expo is expected to facilitate business-to-business engagements, unlock investment opportunities and create avenues for technology transfer and knowledge sharing.
“We expect the exhibition to facilitate partnerships that unlock new investments, provide a platform for technology exchange and enable local businesses to access innovative products and solutions while connecting them to regional and international markets,” he added.
The event has received backing from major industry organisations, including the KNCCI, Kenya Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (KABCEC), Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), Kenya Renewable Energy Association (KREA) and Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS).
KABCEC Vice Chairperson Bhupen Hirani encouraged contractors, developers and industry professionals to attend the exhibition, saying it would provide opportunities to network and identify emerging market trends.
KGBS CEO Nasra Nanda said the expo comes at a crucial time as Kenya seeks to mainstream sustainable construction practices.
“This is an important opportunity to showcase innovations available in the built environment and create partnerships that translate sustainability conversations into practical investments,” she said.
“We are currently discussing green public procurement and how it can accelerate investment towards projects that utilise sustainable building materials. This platform gives us an avenue to engage stakeholders and drive those conversations into partnerships and investments.”
On the energy front, KEREA board member David Njugi said the exhibition would help accelerate Kenya's transition to renewable energy.
“Kenya continues to lead in renewable energy adoption and platforms such as Kenya SEPL help connect stakeholders, showcase innovation, facilitate investment and encourage partnerships that accelerate the energy transition,” Njugi said.
He revealed that KEREA will host a stakeholder dialogue during the expo focusing on the growing challenge of electronic waste generated by solar panels, batteries and other renewable energy technologies.
“As we accelerate clean energy deployment, it is equally important that we prepare for the sustainability challenges that come with it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Megha Marketing EA Country Director Manpreet said the company was excited to support the event because it offers opportunities to build lasting industry partnerships.
“Buildcon is not just where we showcase products. It is where we build partnerships that help shape the future of the industry,” she said.
Exhibitions & Trade Services India Private Limited Director Vijayanka Brighuvanchi said organisers are expecting more than 125 exhibitors from over six countries, underscoring Kenya's growing importance as a regional business destination.
The exhibitions will showcase the latest advancements in construction technologies, building materials, architecture, interior design, woodworking machinery, furniture manufacturing, renewable energy systems, battery storage solutions, smart infrastructure and green building innovations.
Organisers said the event will serve as a strategic platform for manufacturers, contractors, architects, engineers, developers, policymakers and investors to explore opportunities that will help drive East Africa's construction, energy and industrial sectors into the future.
Entry to the three-day exhibition will be free to all.
