Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed his confidence that the Kenya Kwanza administration, under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), will secure victory in the 2027 general election, citing the government’s record of delivering development projects across the country.

Kindiki made the remarks at Mwandimu Village in Msambweni Constituency, where he launched a last-mile electricity project spearheaded by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to uplifting marginalised communities.

“Next year will be an examination year. Every politician will undergo a test, and if you have not worked for the common man, you should not expect to score highly in that exam,” Kindiki told residents.

The Deputy President was accompanied by Coast leaders led by Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani. He urged locals not to be swayed by opposition leaders, insisting they failed to deliver meaningful development when they held office.

The electrification project launched in Msambweni will connect 105 households to electricity, with REREC targeting 15,000 households in Kwale County by the end of the year.

The programme is expected to transform lives by powering schools, health centres, and small businesses, while reducing reliance on kerosene and diesel generators.

Area MP Feisal Bader welcomed the project, assuring residents that electricity would reach their homes within weeks. Leaders present used the occasion to rally support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid, dismissing opposition criticism as baseless.

Governor Achani commended the President for fulfilling campaign pledges, pointing to the completion of the Diani Modern Market, which she said has boosted local commerce and provided traders with modern facilities.

Kindiki’s tour of Kwale highlights the government’s strategy of using infrastructure and energy projects to strengthen its presence in the Coast region, which has historically aligned with the opposition.

By focusing on tangible development, the Deputy President said Kenya Kwanza is demonstrating its commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
