David Beckham has made history by becoming the first British sportsman to reach billionaire status. The 2026 Sunday Times Rich List confirms that the former England captain has officially reached the ten-figure milestone.

He and his wife, Victoria, now share a combined fortune of £1.185 billion. In Kenyan shillings, this wealth is estimated at approximately KSh 204.28 billion.

A Record-Breaking Year

The family's wealth has skyrocketed over the last twelve months. Only a year ago, the couple’s net worth was estimated at £500 million. This means they have managed to more than double their wealth in a very short period.

This rapid growth has moved them into second place on the list of the UK's wealthiest sportspeople.

The ‘Messi Effect’ in Miami

Much of this financial success is linked to Beckham’s American football team, Inter Miami. Beckham has been a co-owner of the club since 2018. The franchise is now valued at approximately £1.07 billion, making it the most valuable in Major League Soccer.

Bringing Lionel Messi to the United States was a major turning point for the business. This move created what is known as the "Messi Effect".

It caused the value of the club to soar as fans from around the world followed the star player. Beckham has since secured the club's future by signing Messi for an additional two years.

"The 'Messi Effect' turned the franchise into a literal goldmine overnight."

A Global Business Empire

Outside of football, Beckham remains a major face for global brands. He has long-term ambassador roles with companies such as Adidas and Hugo Boss.

His production company, Studio 99, has also been a major success. It produced the hit documentary series about his career for Netflix.

Victoria Beckham has also played a critical role in the family’s financial rise. Her fashion and beauty empire is now performing strongly after years of growth. Revenues for her luxury label recently surpassed the £100 million mark for the first time.

Leading the Sporting Rich List

The Beckhams now sit just behind the family of former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone in the sporting wealth rankings.

The Ecclestone family currently holds a fortune of £2 billion. Other British sporting stars remain some distance behind the Beckham family.

Sir Lewis Hamilton is in fifth place with a fortune of £435 million. Rory McIlroy follows in seventh place with £325 million. Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua is eighth on the list with £240 million.
