Kenyan singer-songwriter Lexsil, born Alex Mosongo, is rapidly proving that independence can fuel creativity and international success.
Known for his smooth vocals and genre-blending sound that straddles Afropop and Afrobeats, Lexsil has always leaned into music that captures love, romance, and everyday emotion.
He first made waves in the industry with his debut single “Bambam”, produced by Letrupers with visuals by Danny Igizza and So Fly Keirahn.
The release caught the attention of Swahili RnB heavyweight Otile Brown, who signed Lexsil to his Just In Love Music label in 2020.

Standout tracks like “Your Love”, “Bounce”, “Let Me Love You” featuring Phina, and “Nobody” showcase his versatility, while his latest release, “In Love”, dives into the depths of romance, commitment, and genuine affection.
The track “Bounce”, which features Otile Brown, has become a defining moment in Lexsil’s career. The song not only dominated Kenyan charts but also became the most streamed Kenyan song on Spotify, amassing over 8 million streams within a year.
Its appeal has been global, resonating with audiences in Germany, the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Spain, and notably, French-speaking markets. A dedicated French remix featuring Tayron Kwidan even cemented Lexsil’s cross-border appeal.
Lexsil’s growing international presence, highlighted by his collaboration with BET Award-winning Tanzanian star Rayvanny on “By Your Side”, signals his ambitions beyond Kenya.
In 2023, Spotify recognized him as one of Kenya’s top exported artists, placing him alongside icons like Sauti Sol, Otile Brown, and Nikita Kering.
With a sound rooted in East African musical tradition yet forward-looking in production and style, Lexsil exemplifies the promise of independent artistry.
