Anita, a 29-year-old ICT accountant at ICS Technical College, died on April 14 after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times at her home in Nakuru. Her husband, Captain Edwin Kaunga Muthomi, a Kenya Defence Forces officer based in Gilgil, remains in custody as investigations continue.

Days later, the politician shared photos and videos on social media showing Baby Talisha visiting his Nairobi office alongside relatives and her nanny, Winnie. The pair were seen playing together, sharing snacks, and spending quality time in emotional father-daughter moments.

In a heartfelt message, Sonko expressed pain over the trauma the young girl experienced.

“Baby Talisha is only four years old. At such a tender age, no child should ever witness the horror of seeing her own mother killed before her eyes,” Sonko wrote.

He added that no child should grow up carrying such painful memories.

“A child who should only know love, laughter, toys, and bedtime stories is now growing up with memories no child deserves to carry. But the devil has failed.”

Promise to Support Her Education

Sonko revealed that he had already cleared Talisha’s school fees at Shah Lalji Nanpar Academy International School in Nakuru, where she had been studying before her mother’s death.

He also pledged to shop for her school items and personal needs while encouraging her to remain focused on her dreams despite the difficult circumstances surrounding her childhood.

The former governor further shared some of the young girl’s achievements, including a swimming certificate she won at school last year.

In another emotional message directed to Anita, Sonko vowed to continue supporting her daughter for as long as he lives.

“I never got the chance to know you personally, but I promise you this: your daughter will not suffer while I am alive.”

Anita Mugweru’s Final Moments

According to Winnie, the family’s househelp, Anita’s final words were directed at her husband during a heated confrontation. She reportedly told him to leave her alone and be with the other women he was allegedly involved with.
