Defending champions Kabras RFC will battle rivals KCB Rugby in a blockbuster Kenya Cup final at the Kakamega Showground as the 2025-26 season reaches its climax.
The sugarmen are chasing a historic fifth consecutive Kenya Cup title, a feat achieved only by Impala RFC (1970-74) and Nondescripts RFC (1979-82).
Kabras head into the final on the back of a remarkable run that has seen them go unbeaten in 15s rugby for four years across both the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup — a streak stretching to 54 matches.
Since earning promotion in 2014, the Kakamega-based side have reached every Kenya Cup final, with Saturday’s showdown marking their 11th consecutive appearance.
The two sides have met seven times in the final since 2015, with KCB winning five of those encounters. However, the bankers have not beaten Kabras in a final since 2022, losing in both the Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup finals in 2023 and 2024.

Kabras coach Carlos Katywa expects another fierce contest against their long-time rivals.
“It has been a tough season and now we have a chance to cement history, but it will not be easy because we are facing a formidable opponent,” said Katywa.
He added that the team has sharpened preparations following their dominant 48-15 semifinal win over Blak Blad RFC.
“We have fine-tuned our preparations over the last fortnight and the boys are ready for the final,” he said.
Kabras will rely on an experienced pack led by Kenya Simbas captain Eugene Sifuna alongside George Nyambua, Hillary Odhiambo and Jeanson Misoga.
In the backs, Eric Cantona, Walter Okoth, Derrick Ashiundu and Mathias Osimbo are expected to play key roles. KCB, meanwhile, held a three-day training camp at Nyangori High School as they seek to upset the champions.
Coach Andrew Amonde believes his side is better prepared after falling short in recent finals.
“This team has matured and learnt lessons from the last two years. We pushed them close in the pool phase match in March, so I believe we have a chance,” said Amonde.
The bankers will look to Wilhite Mususi, Nick Okullo, Sheldon Kahi and Emmanuel Silungi to lead the forward battle, while Brian Wahinya, Samuel Asati, Festus Shiasi and captain Bob Muhati will marshal the backline.
Constant Cap will officiate the final, which kicks off at 3pm. The match will be preceded by the Eric Shirley Shield final between KCB II and Menengai Oilers II.
