Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has revealed that he is not tied to any specific political party ahead of the 2027 general election, saying he will contest for re-election using the party platform that Kiambu residents prefer.

Wamatangi said he would not spend time searching for a political vehicle but would instead follow the direction taken by the people.

“I will stay here in Kiambu, I will not go anywhere looking for a party. You tell me which party has come and I will run on that one and we walk together because you are the ones to elect,” he said.

The governor said his focus remains on service delivery rather than early political campaigns, insisting that his development record would be his main campaign tool when the election period arrives.

According to Wamatangi, who was speaking to a group of boda boda operators, the work his administration has done across the county will speak for itself when he seeks a second term.

“When the time comes to campaign, I will show the people what we have achieved,” he said.

He also appeared to aim at critics, accusing them of engaging in propaganda and personal attacks instead of focusing on development issues.

“All these other things, propaganda, there is no one who does not know how to do it. It is only that this is not the time for politicking, it is time to deliver,” Wamatangi stated.

Wamatangi, who won the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2022, maintained that his administration remains focused on delivering projects and improving services for residents rather than engaging in premature political contests.

During the event, Wamatangi also stated that they have issued cheques to boda boda saccos across various wards in the county.

The kazi and boda programme that is being implemented across the county, he said, is designed to empower bodaboda riders by encouraging them to organise themselves into structured Saccos and strengthen their economic capacity.
