The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has announced that all preparations have been completed ahead of tomorrow’s, May 8, nominations to pick its candidate for the Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.
The party said voting materials, including tablets and other electronic voting equipment, have already been dispatched to the constituency facilitate a smooth nomination exercise.
UDA will conduct the primaries using an electronic voting system in a move aimed at enhancing transparency and speeding up tallying of results.
A total of 10 aspirants are seeking the party ticket in what is expected to be a tightly contested race.
Those in the contest are Joseph Ndirangu Ndung’u, Peter Njoroge Mugo, Samuel Muchina Nyagah, Njoroge Wambugu Kanuri, Maina Kiambati, Joseph Chuchu Njuguna, Stanley Mwangi Wairimu, Mary Nyokabi Kamau, Daniel Ndung’u Mwangenye and Ezekia Kamweru Kiraing’wa.
Party officials said all logistical arrangements had been finalised ahead of the exercise.

The Ol Kalou by-election has attracted growing political attention, with UDA keen on retaining its influence in the constituency amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election.
The winner of Friday’s primaries will carry the party flag in the July by-election, setting up what is expected to be a competitive race involving candidates from rival political parties and independents.
Campaigns across the constituency intensified in recent days as aspirants sought to rally grassroots support ahead of the nominations.
The mini-poll is expected to serve as an early political test for parties as alignments continue to take shape ahead of the next general election.
UDA had earlier announced that its Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee will be on standby to receive and determine complaints arising from the nomination.
In a notice issued on May 6, the party said all disputes must be filed within 24 hours after the declaration of results or the decision giving rise to the complaint.
“Notice is hereby given that the UDA Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee shall be available to receive, hear and determine all disputes relating to the Ol Kalou Constituency Member of National Assembly nomination process,” the statement reads.
The party directed that complaints be submitted either physically or electronically through the official email address provided by the committee.
“All electoral disputes should be lodged before the ENDRC within twenty-four hours upon declaration of results or nomination decision giving rise to the respective dispute,” the notice states.
