A 30-year-old man died after he was attacked with a hammer during a confrontation at a home in Msambweni, Kwale County.
Police said Ali Omar died in hospital following the April 30, 2026 incident, in which he was allegedly attacked by his brother.
The two had quarrelled over a domestic issue before one attacked the other. He was also slashed on the head with a panga. Police said the body had injuries to the head and shoulder. It was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and other procedures.
The suspect fled after the incident, and efforts to arrest him were ongoing as of Friday, police said.
In Muthara, Meru County, Martin Mwenda died in hospital after he was assaulted during an altercation. Police said on Friday that a suspect in the killing was on the run, with efforts to arrest him ongoing.
Police linked the fatal assault to a land dispute, adding that the assailant was his father. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Police said most murder cases reported have been linked to land disputes and deals gone wrong.
In Madianyi, Rarieda, Siaya County, the body of Eric Ouma, 38, was found floating in River Mawira. The decomposed body was discovered by a herder. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending other procedures.
In Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, a drowning was reported after the body of a man was found in River Riana. Police said the body had been swept to the area on April 30, 2026. It was later moved to the mortuary.
In Ruiru, Kiambu County, police are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a middle-aged man was found lying along Kihunguro bypass on Thursday. The incident was reported after members of the public alerted police through a hotline.
Police responded and found the body of a man identified as Samuel Kahuthu lying on the ground. The deceased had visible injuries, including bleeding from the mouth and what appeared to be a broken neck.
Preliminary information from members of the public indicates that the deceased had earlier been involved in a confrontation with another unidentified man, which escalated into a physical fight.
The scene was processed and documented by crime scene investigators before the body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home for preservation and postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and to identify the suspect involved.
