Being Sent to Kenya as a Form of Discipline
Barak revealed that one of the ways his parents tried to correct his behaviour was by sending him to Kenya whenever he got into serious trouble.
“You know the typical African parent is just like you know you're going to your grandmother’s house right now.”
He described this as a form of punishment meant to distance him from the environment where he was getting into repeated issues.
He said this decision was made by his parents whenever things escalated, especially when his actions in the United States became difficult to manage.

Reflection on His Upbringing
Throughout the conversation, Barak described a pattern of behaviour that repeatedly placed him in trouble during his youth.
He emphasised that his parents responded by relocating him temporarily to Kenya as a corrective measure.
The experience, as he shared it, formed part of his broader upbringing and shaped how his behaviour was managed during his younger years.
“ I’d get beaten with canes and chapad, and it was crazy, but it inevitably shaped the life that I live now. So thanks, Mom and Dad.”

The Rise of Kenya’s New “Bad Boy” Persona
The conversation around Kenya’s entertainment scene has recently shifted with the emergence of Barack Jacuzzi, a US-raised creative now positioning himself as a disruptive force in local pop culture.
Known for his time in North Carolina, where he built a reputation through organising unconventional neighbourhood events and experimenting with music, Jacuzzi’s journey has been shaped by a cross-continental upbringing that frequently saw him sent back to Kenya by his parents as a form of discipline.
Since returning more permanently, he has begun embedding himself within the Kenyan industry, collaborating with established names such as Octopizzo and Shappaman while also expanding his presence in radio and event curation.
