Travelling to or from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) late at night? You might want to factor in a few extra minutes for your commute.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice regarding the partial closure of a critical section of the A8/B10 Highway.
The affected area stretches from the JKIA Turn-off to the Elephant Roundabout.
To minimise the impact on daily commuters, the maintenance works are scheduled to take place during the graveyard shift.
Duration: Friday, April 10, 2026, to Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Time: Every night between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.
Why the Closure?
KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli noted that the temporary disruption is necessary to facilitate essential highway maintenance works. The authority emphasised that only parts of the carriageway will be closed at a single time.
This "phased" approach is designed to ensure that while work is ongoing, traffic flow is maintained—albeit at a slower pace.
Advice for Motorists
If you are hitting the road during these hours, here is how to navigate the zone smoothly:
Follow the Plan: Adhere to the proposed traffic management signs. Cooperate: Follow instructions from the police and traffic marshals stationed on-site.
Plan Ahead: If you have an early morning flight or a late-night arrival, leaving a little earlier than usual is a safe bet.
Normal traffic operations are expected to resume fully once the maintenance team wraps up on the morning of April 19.
