Private sector employees receive the highest average bribes in Kenya, according to the 2025 Kenya National Gender and Corruption Survey by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The report shows that other employees in private businesses top the list, with an average bribe of Sh8,288. Doctors follow at Sh5,164, while teachers receive an average of Sh5,020.
Nurses rank fourth, with an average bribe of Sh3,366, highlighting the persistence of informal payments even within critical public-facing professions.
Employees in insurance companies and banks record comparatively lower averages, at Sh2,351 and Sh2,222, respectively.
