She noted that her inspiration for the show comes from her lifelong exposure to travel and her years living in England.

“I’ve lived in England all my life, but I’ve always been exposed to travel from a young age. I realised that not everyone has the opportunity to see the world in the same way, and I wanted to create something that allows people — especially back home — to experience it through me,” she added.

Dolly credited her mother for nurturing her love for travel and adventure from an early age.

“From around the age of 10, she would send me on flights alone to Kenya to visit my grandmother, which built my independence early on. Later, when I was in Year 10, she took me to China — something that wasn’t very common at the time. We explored different cities and even climbed the Great Wall,” she recalled.

She added that her mother remains proud not just of her achievements, but of the person she has become, noting that her confidence and mindset were shaped at home.

Describing the concept behind the show, Dolly explained that Travelling with Dolly is not guest-driven but people-focused.

“We focus on everyday people — a café owner, a waitress, someone you meet along the way. These real, unfiltered interactions are what truly bring each place to life and make the experience more relatable for viewers,” she said.

Dolly believes the show will offer Kenyans valuable insights into different cultures and lifestyles across the world, promising an engaging mix of adventure, diversity, and discovery.

From different climates and cultures to unique foods and histories, the show introduces places and experiences that many may not be familiar with — all in an immersive and engaging way,” she said.

Drawing from her experience working with high-profile clients, Dolly added that the exposure has sharpened her attention to detail and influenced how she presents content, a quality she intends to bring to her new role on screen.
