A suspected revenge killing in Siyu, Lamu East Sub-County, spiralled into chaos after angry youth torched a suspect’s family home following the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old man.

Swabir Hassan Omar was stabbed in the chest on Tuesday morning in Ishakani Village in an attack police believe is linked to a long-standing feud.

Witnesses said the suspect, who was also armed with a panga, attempted to further assault the victim before fleeing towards the ocean shore.

Police said Swabir collapsed at the scene and was rushed to Siyu Dispensary, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The killing triggered immediate retaliation, with enraged youth from Siyu Village storming Ishakani and setting ablaze the house belonging to the suspect’s 70-year-old grandmother. The fire was later contained with the help of residents.
